I'm looking for a companion fish to go with my McCosker's and Pink Streaked Wrasse.
Also have a Purple Firefish and a Yellow Goby.
32gal Biocube.

Don't want clowns because of the current that I run for all of my corals.

Looking for something that would be kind of a show piece.
Thanks

Options are limited based on your aquarium size. Any particular fish you are looking at?

I'm open to all suggestions. Would like a free-swimmer like the wrasse.
Was looking at a Royal Gramma but research showed it's not a great fit with the Firefish.
Trying to be very careful here because it is almost impossible to get a fast fish out of the reef.

Adding more wrasses in a tank that small might be a problem. Royal Gramma's are great fish. I've had several and they can be territorial around their space or hole but for the most part get along with most fish including firefish. Some people get them confused with Royal or Bicolor dottybacks which can be real jerks. You shouldn't have any problems with a Royal gramma. Also there are several different blennies (bicolor, tailspot) and Dracula/banded/sasha gobies you could go with. The firefish/wrasses should be able to hold its own with any of those.

Consider an assessor.

I find royal grammas to be excellent tankmates for firefish if the firefish are in first.

Yellow assessor, midas blenny, grammistes blenny, watchman goby are a few suggestions.

Great - I will look to add the royal gramma and see how that works with the rest of the crew.
Then I will look to add the yellow assessor which looks like a good fit.

What I plan to do is add the Pink Streaked Wrasse first, then the Royal Gramma and then the Yellow Assessor.
Any input into this plan would be appreciated.

Lawnmower Blenny have really great personalities. The one I had knew my mom in site and would only swim up and down for her.
You could get other types of dart fish like scissor tail or zebra.

Get the assessor before the gramma.

You might want to use an acclimation box between the Royal Gramma and Yellow Assessor additions. They both are in the basslet family. There might be some territorial aggression in a tank your size and depending on the size of the two.

Yellow assessors are smaller and more peaceful than grammas, not that grammas are aggressive, they just defend their cave.
