Well, I made an impulsive purchase yesterday. I was caught off guard by the beauty of a fish that at first glance I thought was a tang, so I picked it up along with a few Green Chromis. When I got home and checked the receipt I discovered that the fish was not a tang, but a Saddle Butterfly. Is this fish going to harm my SPS and are my Hermit Crabs safe ? My tank is a Red Sea Deluxe 350 with live rock and substrate.

According to liveaquaria not reef safe. May eat SPS, softies and invertebrates. Also suggested tank size min is 125 gallon.

Yeah, that's what I read. I told the gal how big my tank was, so I feel pretty stupid.

Hi,

Great fish, unfortunately it’s a gamble about it picking on sps and inverts. If you want peace of mind I would see if they take it back. There is a chance if you keep it properly fed it will be ok, but odds are not in your favor.
