Thanks I’ve had a tank up and running for 7 months. I’ve got two clowns, 2 Bengal Cardinals, Carpenter Flasher wrasse, Blue Hippo Tang and a diamond back goby. These all get along very well and were introduced to the tank in the 1st 3 months. The tank is a 100 gallon display with a 30 gallon sump. I have 2 sock filters along with a skimmer that’s I run on the weekends. About 90 pounds of rock in the display tank as well.

We stopped adding new fish after several attempts died out. When we would add the new fish they would do fine for the first couple of weeks then they would stop eating and within a day or two they would die.

So we just bought two new fish this weekend. We got a Leopard wrasse and an Orange Back wrasse. The Carpenter wrasse is terrorizing the Orange Back and the smaller of the two Bengal Cardinals is doing the same to the Leopard wrasse. I’ve attempted to trap the two that are causing the problem but can not.

Is there anything else I can do but to make sure the new additions are eating and hope things stabilize after time?

That kind of agression should be expected with new fish, fairy and flasher wrasses are closely related, operate the same body of water, and behave very similarly, so the carpenters sees the orange back as a threat to its territory, however the agression should die down over the week and if it doesnt then you should be concerned . When adding wrasses many recommend using an acclamation box to reduce agression. Is the leopard wrasse eating, it would concern me if it isnt as they are rather difficult to feed, the agression from the bangaii should die down over the week or so too. Is the agression to the leopard wrasse keeping it in the sand or dows it still come out

The leopard seems to be able to keep his distance and makes sure he keeps a rock formation between them. The leopard is pecking at the rock a bit and seems to be feeding well.

The orange back for the most part is hiding and only coming out to feed. He does eat a lot though. I’m going to try and trap the Carpenter and see if I can keep him in the acclimation box for several days to see if reintroducing him will help if things don’t calm down by the weekend.

Thanks for the reply hoping they start behaving because we love all three of them!

You can try a large mirror placed along the side of the tank, or a small one that floats...the kind used for betta fish...all plastic...no medal. Sometimes the bullies will transfer aggression to their reflections, giving the new fish a bit of a break, allowing them time to feed, and acclimate themselves to the new surroundings.
