Hey R2R,
I’m absurdly confused at my tank right now and I’m turning to you all to see if the hive mind can find it out.
I can’t figure out why my almost all of my coral has dyed / is dying. The only thing that’s survived is my Zoa’s. Lost SPS but that’s likely attributed to the MG spike. Euphulia, mushrooms and the like should have survived.
The ranges below are between my monthly water change schedule daily dosage. All nutrient levels are checked with Hannah checkers and major elements are tracked with trident
No3 - 2 to 8
P - 1 to 8
Ammonia - 0
CA - 450 to 480
ALK - 9.5 to 10
MG - 1750 at the highest, dropped to 1650 now after a couple water changes.
Excluding a bad batch of salt that increased my MG I’ve kept all the major elements managed by dosing BRS bulk pharma. Changed out my RODI filters when I got my triton test back with metals in it.. Running my Kessils on the BRS recommended settings so I know that lighting isn’t the problem.
I’m not running carbon, thinking of starting running a bag of it to absorb some of the odors in my sump but beyond that no plans to change the sump / filtration. Next water change I’m going to remove the cupisorb that’s only there to help remove the heavy metals (hasn’t changed colors dramatically which is only reason it’s in there)
I’m tempted to continue the water change schedule until I get my MG down to 1450 or so and then start introducing corals. What other stones have I left unturned?
