Hello All, I have doing Aquaforest Components 123 for the past 8 months now and have seen excellent growth in my corals and especially Coraline Algae on my back glass. When i first started i was dosing 10ml a day into my 150g display with a 40g sump. The display has 120lbs of Caribsea life rock that covered now Coraline algae along with the back glass. I have approximately 15-20 sps frags ranging from 1" to 5" in size. My concern if you want to call it that is that im dosing 153ml a day to maintain my levels. i find that to be high compared to my friends tanks with big monti colonies and he is only dosing 40ml a day maintaining the same levels. Any suggestions or help here will be greatly appreciated as this is becoming expensive buying jugs of the Components 123 that will only last me 32 days.

Are you aware you can mix your own, rather than using the premixed jugs?

Yeah i actually just did an order with BRS for the dry products to mix my own. Just still a bit confused that im consuming so much.

Ok, I know the mix your own recommendations ends up stronger than the jugs of premix. Maybe someone else can chime in on the consumption.
Did you have any problems getting your ions balanced at the beginning? Or were you able to just dose equal parts from the start? Any rise in Mg?

In the beginning everything was well balanced until all the growth then my MG and ALk dropped significantly. I had to dose KH Plus and Mg Plus to get levels back to where i like them.

Every tanks demand is different. You can not calculate that by just looking at them. Possibly your coralline is eating up quite alot but its hard to say. I will suggest start dosing your own mixed version that will cost you less.

Thanks. I think its the coraline also. I actually ordered the dry products a few days ago to start doing my own mixes.

to balance it can we mix our own batch using only mag without reef mineral salt and strong ? will it be same as Mg Plus ? or we just have to use mag plus to raise it?
