Compression fittings to connect PVC for overflow

Is this ok? I couldn’t find the correct unions at Home Depot (they were out) but I did find compression fittings. Will this be ok?

I agree however i am just thinking of a regular sink compression fitting and those fail all the time in my experience

Will it work? Yes
Will it last? Probably

There are two seals on those fittings so there is more of a chance of failure, like a 2% chance of failure, vs .5% on a regular union.

Would I use it? No. Simply because if you need to take it apart you have to pull the pvc pipe out of the fitting. You'll be putting pressure on other piping, or the overflow box, and that is when things break. I would either hit up another hardware store, check the electrical isle (sometimes the sched 80 unions are over there), or just wait a day or two until the store has regular unions.

Yes they'll work fine........ but with that said, when you have to remove them the first time after they've been in use, they tend to develop a leak on subsequent uses. if you can't wait for true unions, they'll work till you can replace them.
