We put this in the tank about a week ago, and it seemed fuller then, I'm wondering if I played it too close to the light (it is directly under a reefled90, blue 50% white 20%, and is 9-10" under the surface of the water).

is your start date on reef2reef relative to the date you started your tank?
I ask because growing coral in a tank that is less that a few months old is a major struggle as the tank is adjusting constantly to build biological stability.

It is somewhat close, yes.

But the tank was cycled with live rock and sand, and the other hammer seems to be doing fantastic, closer to the front of the tank and lower in the tank.

Ammonia, 0.07 ppm
Alk, 9dKH
PH 8.1
Nitrate HR, 14.3 ppm
Nitrite ULR, 14 ppb
Mag 1190 ppm
Calc 549 ppm
salinity 1.025
(all tests from a hanna marine master tester)

This is the other hammer that looks the same as the day we bought it (and they were bought from the same place on the same day)
