Concerning adding stability to a started tank with bacteria from other brands (nitrite 0.2ppm)

You could add the microbacter7 (I’m not familiar with the others) but basically make sure there is 0 ammonia or you risk killing the fish.

I dont know what size your tank is, is doesn’t look that big, but those fish need lots of swimming room so I think your tank looks a little small for them and especially if you have 2 of each ?

The Tang grows very quickly and is an extremely active swimmer, I have one in my 650 litre system and even that’s getting to small for him.

My tank is 60cm * 35 cm *30 cm. As I am currently living with my family and may consider change to a bigger tank when I move out!

I think you need to maybe get like amguard or prime in case your ammonia level gets too high

The fish you have selected need minimum tank sizes of 180-220 gallons (each) so although I appreciate you won’t want to here this, the best thing you can do is take them to an LFS to keep them safe until you get a suitable tank.

A tank 60cm * 35 cm *30 cm is simply not suitable for even 1 fish of this type and therefore certainly not 4.

If you do add them, then you need to make sure the tank has cycled, and certainly 0 ammonia. The Microbactr7 will help with this.

One little thing I have done is I have overdosed the MB7 in trial.

The instruction for a high to medium filtration should be 5ml for 90L.

However I have dose about 5ml for my 60L.

Everything seems alright and going in a good track (I guess). THus I am trying to continue dosing 5 ml for 2 weeks as indicated.

If it were me, I would leave the tank alone and let the bacteria establish itself before doing to much but it’s up to you unless there’s a particular reason you need to ?

Some Chromis died and I dont know why. nitrite level are constant.... So I suspected that there are other source of harmful substances.

Unfortunately this can happen with Chromis, they tend to pick on the weakest members

Hi and Welcome to Reef2Reef,
If you are still getting anything more than 0 for Ammonia and No2 that means that the tank is not fully cycled and it is not ready to add any fish.
I like MB7 I used it at the start of my Aquarium, and I use it in QT tank.


For the Fish that you already ordered. Emperor angel and the blue tang can get too large and quickly. I have a 180 gallon tank and it is the minimum to keep these fish. another thing these fish the will get very aggressive towards any fish of the same species. for example you can't keep two emperor angels in the same tang they will fight to death.

I suggest to keep these fish at the fish store until you figure out what to do with them , or return them if they except or sell them to any hobbyist. In addetion I'll stop adding any new fish until the tank is stabilized

What concerns me that I think the filtration equipment used are not what we usually use in marine aquariums. I think I have seen water fall filter on top of the tank canister filter. this Kind of filtration is more common in fresh water systems. they can work but I guess this will be hard to maintain the best water quality.

Marine Aquariums Usually have a sump under them, the sump is like another aquarium that is divided into champers. you place all filtration and equipment in sump. In addition many reefers add live rock to sump. also it will add more water volume.
