My tank has been up and going for 1 month. While in the process of cleaning my collection cup and changing my sock I noticed my drain lines and return lines were changing colors. Any ideas of why? Should I change it to pvc? The reason I have the sump to the left side of the tank is so I can put the biggest ATO that I can fit. Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Algae? Also, maybe someone a lot more experienced than I will speak up, but not sure about those clamps; I've heard that you shouldn't use them near saltwater.

The pipess are turning color from algea build up inside. PVC will get a build up too but it will be minimal. If you're running a refugium light near them the algea could build up and eventually slow the flow but that will take quite a while. I've been using hose clamps like that on larger systems for near a decade and they will eventually rust but I've never had one fail and as far as I know have never cause water quality issues. IMO the amount of rust that could possibly get into the system will likely be diluted and removed from WC's. IMO, don't worry about them.
