Conch facts... for a friend

so uhh.... how deep can a conch excavate themselves from. I think my pistol shrimp has a vendetta. He's up to a solid inch of sand making that the tallest he's made a pile so far.

On a side note the one conch is now named Paula Shultz... I'm debating on if the bigger one is going to get named Beatrix Kiddo

My conches have buried themselves pretty deep and had no issues getting out.
Love the name choices also

Mine buries itself pretty deep sometimes, sometimes it buries itself under a rock, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Also, love the names, hopefully your conch has knife in her boot and will be able to recall the cruel tutelage of Pai Mei to see her through unburying herself.

I think it got up to 2 inches deep at one point... which considering it's about a 2.5 inch sandbed is pretty impressive. but the pistol wanted that trench and tunnel under the rock. I guess OSHA decided all construction waste had to go in one spot or something

Update: Paula is a smart conch. She keeps moving back to that spot and letting the pistol bury her, now when day comes and the pistol gets to work she doesn't have to do it herself.

Downside is that if this keeps up there isn't going to be sand anywhere else in the tank

yet another update. Paula is now part of the entrance to the den. I can see an eye so she isn't dead... and he just threw another stone on her.
This is quickly becoming my favourite drama in the tank
