I got a conch yesterday to stir my sand bed and after acclimating him I placed him in my tank. He went from one side of the tank to the other and buried himself almost completely in the sand. This was around 2pm yesterday and when I got up for work today I checked on him again before I left for work and he was still in the same spot. I am just curious if he is just getting used to things still or is this something I need to be worried about?

It's probably a good sign. If it starts staying up on the glass that probably means it's afraid of something in the tank eating it. I've had conchs disappear for over a year. I saw my lettered olive for the first time in over 1 1/2 years the other day. We thought it was a gonner. It was one of the first critters purchased for that tank over 8 years ago.

Will he be this immobile forever? I thought he would be slightly more active stirring sand. Either way as long as he's healthy I'm happy :).

Mine will usually stay in one spot for. Day or two..then he'll go nuts traveling the sand bed for a day or two, vice versa..so for short..yes and no lol

Thanks for the input. I've got to say I'm pretty happy with this forum. This was my first post and I got my question answered quickly and without making me feel stupid and shouldn't own an aquarium.

Mine will move around when the urge strikes him. Usually just slowly moves around probing with his little trunk on the rocks and the sand. Welcome to the forum. I came here from another board and I've been pleased with the friendly people and the knowledge thats shared.

What forum did you come from? I'm on "aquarium advice" as well and I like it alright but sometimes I don't agree with they way people are talked down to.
