Is it bad?
Definitely a problem if it’s bryopsis. Nothing eats it and it spreads quickly. You’ll need to remove as much of it is possible and treat the tank with reef flux to clear out any pieces you missed along with leftover roots.

For new inverts I usually scrub down the shells with hydrogen peroxide and rinse before adding them to my tank to help prevent algae transfers.
