Concrete tank

how are you planning to build the tank? cinder blocks with rebar and poured concrete? or are you going to build a wood case and use all poured concrete?

I'm doing a rebar and poured tank. I have a friend that has the concrete forms. I'm going to get the rebar that is paint coated so they don't rust.

good choice. when I build mine in a few years itll be cinder blocks with concrete poured into them and the same coated rebar, but mine will be short at probably 24 inches but wide at 6x8

Nice. I am going to make it a little bigger 8x6x6 since I'm going 1.5" acrylic. I'm going to get one 4x8 sheet.

I would like a nice tall tank, I think they look amazing, but I don't want to have to snorkel to move a frag lol I love the lagoon tanks and that's what im going to build, it will be more of a look down tank than a regular tank. it wont have any viewing windows. at least I have no plans for them right now lol

Doest acrylic have to be thicker than glass. Small tank barred but every 6' or larger acrylic tank ive seen has much thicker plexi than if it were glass.
I.e; 3/4" acrylic vs. 1/2" glass with the same dimensions.
That tells be that while acrylic is sheer stronger than glass it is prone to bowing thus needing to be thicker?

acrylic does bow more than glass, so the wider it is, the more bracing and the more thickness it needs.

as for seeing the fish, so do I.
