You can use any calibration fluid for salinity probe correct? Can I use the one from Bulk reef it says its for refractometer though so curious.

As long as it has the correct microsiemens rating, then yes, refractojuice works.

You cannot assume that fluids for different devices are interchangeable. They may be, if they are close to seawater in composition, but many are not, including my diy fluids.

Thanks Randy! I have a Atlas Scientific K1.0 probe so what should I use to calibrate?

Some options are:

1. My DIY designed for conductivity probes. Best used with a scale.

Reef Aquarium Salinity: Homemade Calibration Standards by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com

2. A science conductivity standard ( I used this). For example:

or

3. Hobby calibration standards that specifically list the conductivity on them (not the ppt). For example:

@Randy Holmes-Farley According to manufacturer of Atlas Scientific I have to calibrate using two point calibration. How can I do this with GHL Profilux? Or do I just pick one point? I have 12,880 us solution and 80,000 us

Their electronics may require it, but it’s is not a fact that two point calibration is needed in general

The ONLY thing that gets calibrated is the slope of the conductivity measurement because it MUST pass through zero where no conducting ions has zero conductivity. That is the mandatory second point when doing single point calibration.

If you need two points, then one point on either side of the expected measuring range is the best way. For seawater salinity, that point is 53,000 uS/cm.

For single point, just use what you can find that is close to the measuring range.

Ok they sent me 12,800 and 80,000 which comes to 12.88ms and 80ms am I correct? I can put this in profilux but would it calibrate correctly? I guess should of got the Neptune one.
