Hello all, recently, I've seen loads of these little cones grow on my glass and equipment. I know they aren't Vermetidae snails as they look nothing like the images I've seen and they don't have the mucus web. Can anyone give me an idea as to what they are and how to get rid of them as they are quite unsightly.

Looks like tunicates to me. They're safe.

Edit: also possible tube worms? I can't tell. Either way they're safe too.

pineapple sponges-I get them really bad in the sump. They plug up the return every few months. no real way to keep them from growing unfortunately

Also look into syconoid sponge. These are also harmless filter feeders. Mine are usually in high flow/low light areas and their population seems to decrease with nutrient control.

syconoid describes the *shape/body structure* of sponge...can either be asconoid, syconoid, leuconoid.

These are pineapple sponges:

Okay. As long as they aren't harmful it's not too bad. I'll just scrub them off whenever I see them! Thanks!
