Hi all,

In the beginning i though it was just algae; then a snail died, then another…

I’ve done a bit of research (read articles on Reef2Reef and watched the 5min guide) and i think what I’m dealing with Dino’s. They appear to be the surface dwelling type as I haven’t noticed a change at night.

Since i’m a new reefer can one of you pros confirm that this is Dino for me (to the extent possible with a photo)?

Does this treatment plan sound right?
Lights off (I have a RBT anemone; no corals)
Siphon sand bed each day
Dose tank with Hydrogen Proxide @ 1ml/10g each night for 5 days
Dose good bacteria each morning for 5 days
Then black out tank for 4 days
Then lights back on blue light only

Does that all sound right? Your help is appreciated! My biggest concern is about my fish/inverts - I’ve read that Dino can be deadly to fish. At what point is it deadly?

40g Breeder/glass top
T5 24inch x 2bulbs
3 clown fish harem
1 RBT
2 Blue leg hermit
2 Astra Snails

Salinity 34ppm (Hanna)
Temp 28c (Hanna)
NO3 0ppm (API)
Phosphate 0.07ppm (Hanna)
PH 8.5 (Hanna)

Try turning the temp up a bit and reduce feedings. The anem is not gonna like the lights out part. Even if you feed it manually. I've killed 2 rbtas and a slew of aptasia through neglect and ignorance. In my 75g a massive waterchange ~50% and turning the temp up eliminated most. Get some algea to help outcompete it for nutriets.

Yeah, I had been battling high nitrates for a couple week (new tank stuff) but never had algae which I think contributed to this issue.
