I got an acropora on Saturday and I saw this crab in it and was excited because I thought it was an acro crab. It never left the acro but the more I looked at it the more I got worried. I managed to get it out of the coral and into a container to take pics and now I am pretty sure it is a gorilla crab. Can you all confirm? His right claw is about 1/4 the size of his left claw but the tips are black.

If he is, I already have a gorilla crab in my sump that is five times bigger than this one. He's the cutest little crab so I don't want him to be eaten right away. Will that happen? I assume yes. I have a 20 gallon frag tank, could he go in there?

That's what I sai.....DOH! That's not what I said;Facepalm. I relent and agree, Gorilla crab. Even Google and many marine sites can't agree as they have the same picture identified each way depending on which site you're looking at. I confirmed it to myself with my old (pre-internet) I.D. books. (Note to self, drink coffee before opening mouth.;Eggonface;Sorry)

I was going to the LFS today anyway so I took him there. They are always selling them so I figured they would take him. That is where I got the one for my sump.

Felicidades. Eres poseedor de un cangrejo gorila ... Yo he puesto algunos en el sumidero, y suelen durar mucho tiempo allí, sin necesidad de acroporos ni corales, donde vivir
