This seems like it should be a simple project to do, but all the different size standards are throwing me off. All the parts below were nominally 1/2 inch, but none of them fit the other. The outlet for the pump is a "1/2in pipe," but the outlet that come with it seems about the size of an airline tube, tiny.

Are there adapters to get at least some these parts to fit together (these are from marine depot)

To explain what I'm doing, I'm trying to set up a hamburg-mattenfilter, but with no air driven pump.

There will be a square filter sponge dividing the tank, and the pump just needs to lift water over the sponge creating flow through the filter That's why I thought the U-shaped return pipe would be perfect for this. The flow for this type of filter has to be very slow, which is why the tiny pump.

I'm just trying to build something like above with a power pump instead of an airlift tube. The reason being because the water splashing everywhere with the bubbles from an air pump is annoying.

This is probably not a typical project for here but I know there must be parts that will work for it, so thanks for looking.
