It's been a long time since I've cycled a tank, need a refresher please!
I am cycling a 2.7g pico tank at work here. Used about 1.5lb of rock from my established reef at home, 2 lbs of LR from the LFS and about 1 lb of dry rock. I also used a piece of established sponge from my reef at home. No sand. There are some zoas and a mushroom from my main tank (it was on the rocks I wanted to use, so I decided to stick it in the tank anyway).
It's running a week now.
Ammonia went up and stayed about 2-3 days. Today it went down (not to 0), and Nitrate is up. I don't see any signs of Nitrites.. I thought it goes in order, Ammonia, Nitrite then Nitrate. Using API test kits.
Is it possible my tank sped through the cycling because I used established LR and sponge? or did something mess up somewhere? The zoas is doing well, mushroom is hanging there (not open and has stringy stress mucus as of today)
