Alright so im getting down to the point where i want to upgrade my lighting equipment for the second time. I used to have a 48" compact fluorescent 10k/actinic but the ballast broke in it and some wires melted together. i have no clue how the hell that happened lol. Anyway, i immediately headed down to my LFS and they sold me on the Aquatop SkyLED 48" (SkyLED 48" Aquarium Light for Reef Tanks) that has the 10k/actinic. Corals are happy but they just arent growing! I explained that to them and they say i may need to get a second SkyLED but in full actinic. They said a customer grows SPS with these and is very satisfied.
I trust them quite a bit but that would be $400 total on something that isnt full spectrum. I'm reading about all the lighting and its confusing me. Basically it boils down to the question if i need to get different lighting all together or buy the full actinic fixture and run in conjunction with my current fixture? Will the second fixture in actinic make a huge difference in coral growth?
Im on a budget atm so spending a ton of money wont be an option... My tank is a 72g Bow Front.
