Connect frag tank to display

Hello I want to connect my frag tank to my display. I have no sump. Any ideas how to connect these two tanks?

Use the frag as the "sump" use a HOB overflow or drill for external overflow on the DT and have it overflow into the frag and then pump from frag to the DT. Make sure that the water level in the frag is low enough to handle the water if the power goes out.

So did you make the connection? If so did you experience a "cycle" on the new tank? I mean did you get algae growth?
