Hi guys,

I have a question for you, I want to use this AM level sensor for overflow protection. I want it to turn of the return pump when level is to high in the overflow box just to be safe. See this link: http://www.marineandreef.com/Aqua_Me...p/rab11727.htm

This switch is supplied with a mini jack and I wonder how to cut that of and connect it to the Apex Break Out Box. I suppose it's only two wires in there one red and one white or black. Which one is what? Anybody know that? Is it possible? I'm sure it is as this is just another level switch right?

Please advice.

This looks like a simple float switch that typically has two wires and makes or breaks continuity depending on the float position. A continuity switch will work with the Apex breakout box, you do not want power applied to the switch. This one is expensive, possibly because of the bracket holder? Maybe try a search for Aquarium Wired Liquid Water Level Sensor Float Switch.

That is way too expensive for a float switch. And it is not even using magnetic for the bracket holder. Suction cups are not very good in the long run. Anyway, back to your question, I think it will have 2 wires in there and it does not matter what color it is. I am just not sure which orientation will close or open the wires. However, you can find that out real fast after connecting the wires to the BOB

Alright, thanks guys. I have a couple of them lying around so I will connect them up. I am in the process of setting up a brand new 500 gallon system from Shuran and I want all possible safety features that I can have.
