Connecting VariouS8 to apex

When I attach the y cable from my VariouS8 to the apex the return pump turns off and does not start unless I disconnect the cable. Replaced cable so not a cable issue either. Only reason I bought this variius8 was to add to my apex.

Can anyone suggest something?

do you have the Apex or the Apex EL? for the apex you would just plug it in to the 0-10v for the EL you would need the VDM module.

I have the Apex and I did plug into right slot. As soon as I do the pump turns off and will not restart
Tried: new y cable, rebooting apex, switching slots, using task manager to configure existing patterns/schemes.

Nothing has worked

Turn all 4 variable speed switches to off. Plug in the y cable. One at a time, turn the slider to the on position. Wait a good 15 seconds before moving onto the next. Find which switch activates the pump.
