Hello,

I have a 50 gallon tank that is not overstocked (clown pair, diamond goby, and a cardinal fish). I'm pretty sure I'm overfeeding. I give PE pellets each morning and rotate frozen mysis and rods food each night.

When I feed frozen I think I give quite a bit more than necessary. I just Iove feeding the fish and watching the extra mysis get snagged out of the water by an anemone or duncan. I also feed reef roids 1-2x per week. I don't mind water changes, so I do 25% weekly, and also skim wet. Because of this my parameters haven't blown up (8 nitrate, 0.06 phosphate) and my alk, calc, mag and salinity are all stable.

I'm wondering what other consequences besides pollution I should be worried about? None of the fish seem to be getting fat, and I've got steady coral growth.

I would suggest cleaning the sand when you do water changes if you don't already. A Python Siphon or similar will be your best friend. Every water change do 1/4 - 1/3 of the sand bed to prevent a buildup of detritus in it. A sand sifting goby and/or a bunch of snails will go a long way towards keeping it clean, but it turns out they poop too! Eventually the gunk will build up and cause problems if you aren't careful.

I cannot imagine doing a water change without my trusty PS.
