The roll of the dice, maybe you know, maybe you don't, maybe you got $5-$10 in your pocket and you can spend it reef style under the radar. It can be done and this is just one example of a bleached coral that turned out to be a diamond in the ruff so to speak. I was at my LFS one day probably broke as a joke with a few buck in my pocket not even planning on spending anything just priming my imagination with reefdom that's right reefdom.

Reefdom- browsing through coral live stock probably at a LFS because a appointment requires certain purchase and maybe your not trigger happy but you want to test the salty waters because your obsessed and just urging for more!!!. LOL

This is just coming out of my brain right now but anyways.

I was at my LFS and this was a example of "maybe you know" and I saw this poor hurting coral (chalice) slight green rim, pale white base, bright almost translucent yellow eyes and at that moment the store personnel walked up and I said "Is that a watermelon chalice" he replied "It's some no name but if you want it you can have it for $10 bucks",,,,,,TEN BUCks !!!! and at that moment trying to hold back my crap eating grin of reefing happiness I said "yes please" please please please bag it up quickly before someone notices... and walk out with a bleached quote " no name chalice" but who cares for the name when it's $10 bucks and may have potential. So that's it I thanked the guy walked out posed and happy and plopped the new chalice in and WOW what a turn out.

Any ways that's my story of forehead sweating sweat bleached reef deals!! Please share you story if you have one or if not just enjoy the pics below of my find fare enough!!!

Man I love stories like this! I could read them all day. This hobby is so expensive it's like winning the lottery when a deal like that comes along and the coral regains it's health in your tank! Still looking for my story, but it will come and I'll post it when it does. Congrats man! Awesome looking piece, super happy for you!

Awesome buy and well done getting him beautiful again, he's stunning!

These are couple of my rescue success stories, obviously the Palys are a hard to kill coral but these guys were pure white for over four months, even spread and new ones were white. I was convinced they were white morphs and then within a week they all got their colour back.

Love nursing them back to health again.

Even the crappy LFS's around here havent managed to bleach anything. What is the name of this amazing coral thrift store?

this one was not bleached but all brown and dull... got it for cheap 3-4 months ago... as the week passed, lost the brown, got more red-pink out and a nice pale green... colors are still evolving. new growth is more pink-purple with a withe-green background... polyps color went from brown to red-ish... i'm curious to see how it will end up

that one made me laught!! where to purchase last resort coral!!! it's like lotery
sadly, we have poor LFS here and coral selection is BAD. i often see corals near death in some LFS, bad coloration, poor conditions :(

LOL i can see why!
Ive brought a few back that have bleached because of a transfer from one system to my system.

I get a load of my life stock from reefers breaking down tanks and got several which were bleached but still came through. Had two plating Monti which lost all colour with no polyp extension and now thriving. It's amazing how they can come back. Gives me hope for the disastrous bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef.
