I'm in a bit of a unique situation where I ended up with a Red Sea 750XXL without the sump and stand, and I have done my own DIY stand and sump. With the Red Sea specific plumbing, the pipes for the overflow and backup overflow are a bit too long for how my sump is positioned.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience cutting the Red Sea plumbing to size, and if there are any dangers, considerations or best practices to cutting it.

Thanks!

Not that I know of. I have a 750 with the Red Sea specific sump and stand and I still cut up the main drain and return - https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/huff’s-750xxl.590567/ I didn't see a need to mess with the emergency drain at this point so it's still stock.

I mostly wanted to not have to deal with their valve on the main drain and I wanted to hard plumb the return with a flow sensor. So far tank has been running for 3 months without issue (knocks on wood). And I haven't had to touch the gate valve so far.

You can cut them, no problem at all maybe only about the price the cost new. :D:p
Also another solution is to buy their connectors and then glue the elbows and tubing like you really want.

Where did you get those fittings? I couldn't find them

Here is the part. Just unscrew the nipple. Sand the outside to fit tight and use PVC glue.
thanks for the tip.
I already bought the whole return line just to get the union side w/elbow ;Wacky I wish brs or anybody would carry metric and red sea plumbing, I spent twice what I should have:mad: but I now have Parts

hey guys on my 425 i have one return that is moving the sand and i need to split off into two linelock, what is everyone doing? suggestions?

if you check out my build i did the same thing except i removed the barb fitting off and used a 3/4 npt thread to 3/4 slip fitting, works like a charm, no cutting or gluing directly onto those parts
