Considering a FO pred tank....

Get an atenneta (if you can find) or just a regular radiata lion and your fine

And before someone comes around and says well I heard or i read like 20 years ago that a humu wil go after the lions fins, no, it’s a myth...

This is a picture of what I remember having in the past...

lion king,

Can you ID this guy? The page I found this image on is written in a language I don't recognize.

While looking for this picture, I saw a few pics of lions almost half the size of a full grown man. I had no idea these guys could get that big!! No wonder they are being labeled as "invasive" in some areas.

Volitans are considered invasive in the Caribbean and the Atlantic because of their shear numbers and they don't seem to have any predators controlling them, not their size, max size is about 15". That's a photoshopped photo of what appears to be a volitan lion, they will get to over 12" in captivity and can live over 10 years in your tank if cared for properly, sadly most only live a few years due to a poor diet. While volitans will accept a variety of dead foods, and mostly pretty easy to get eating. Most choices of lfs food will lead to thiaminese poisoning and nutritional deficiencies. You can see many of my post discussing nutrition for more info.

You can just search the net to find the array of people not being able to keep lionfish, get them to eat or just stop eating threads. The radiata and antennata are perhaps the 2 most difficult lions you could keep. You will be hard pressed to find any that have kept these 2 alive for even as long as a year, while they live between 10-15 years in the wild. Because of poor diet choices most people are keeping their volitans alive for 3-5 years max. If you can't verify this in person at your lfs or with people you know, you can just take a look around the net.
