I am still a newbie- I got a bio cube 34 last January and have really enjoyed( mostly) the hobby. I did have some beginner trials with some sick fish, but I kept to a quarantine process, and my tank has been healthy. I went through all the ugly stages and my water parameters are stable. I have some soft corals that are doing good.
I am considering upgrading to a Red Sea Reefer peninsula tank. I have a great spot for one.
Not sure if I will keep two tanks, or use my Bio Cube as a QT during the set up process.
I have been doing a lot of research. I like the look of the cabinet that comes with it, but I will most likely build my own to match the remainder of my furniture- more rustic.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the peninsula tanks.
Thanks.

If you were looking at replacing the stand anyway you could probably spring for a custom built tank and get some really cool dimensions on a peninsula for the same price or close... The beautiful thing about peninsula tanks is you can go much wider than a standard tank that's up against a wall because you can access it from both sides. This leaves you with an opportunity for amazing aquascapes. This is something that while both waterbox and Red Sea have amazing tanks, I feel they have really missed the boat on....

BTW Congratulations on your success so far :D

That is an interesting idea, I figured it would be out of my price range, although the RD tanks are $$.
We have really enjoyed the tank and my kids have especially enjoyed it.
Any ideas on custom tank manufacturers?

I love peninsula tanks. Some day, I’ll have one. I vote for only having one tank. That way you can focus on keeping it pristine rather than worrying about two systems. The maintenance might seem fun now, but think five years down the road.

DO IT!!
I am a BIG fan of peninsula tanks. I have a little nano peninsula just started a new RS 750 as a peninsula would not fit ( they we bought a new house a wish a had a BIG peninsula tank.

both Water box and red sea has some good offering. but all so look in the planet aquarium matrix line they are not as sharp looking as WB/RS but you can go as big as 310.

if you are going to built a stand anyway I would deff. price out other vendors to see.

SCA aquariums have a nice 150 at a great price, they can do custom work too.

Lots of good aquarium manufacturers at reasonable prices out there, it might end up being slightly more than the Red Sea but nothing absurdly over. Planet Aquariums, SCA, Miracles, Tank Me USA, Crystal Dynamics are a few to name off the top of my head. There is a through list in this thread of all the manufacturers I could find...

I had a custom peninsula built that was 60" L x 30" W x 17" H it cost me around $3400 CDN and about 700ish of that was an extra expense because I switched sizes after the original one I had ordered was already cut. I could have went with a Red sea or waterbox but I really didn't like the height of either of them.
