Before I shell out almost 500 for a doser I would like to hear about others' experiences with the product. I am not a tech guy so me hooking it up to the wifi is out of the question. I would most likely connect the USB cord for controllability (is this possible and can I then unplug the device and have the doser work?). Also is it loud? the tank is in my bed room so this is also a big consideration for me. And finally customer service, is it present and easily accessible?

I use the older style GHL doser and love it. I think @reefwiser uses the newer style GHL and thinks highly of it. Let's see if he will comment.
It has its own wifi built in You can run it without every hooking it up to a computer with just the smart phone app.
You just go into your wifi and choose GHL Doser wifi. Is it loud I have never even heard it make a noise it uses Stepper motors which are generally real quite and real accurate. Vinny at GHL is very helpful and will take care of any issues one on one.
