I'm in the process of building my 180g. I plan on mixed reef but not on the SPS side. I plan on keeping it bare bottom. I got two MP40s from my old tank but the are older and need to be replaced soon. I'm starting to hear bearings grinding. I like the concept of the gyres but until now hadn't considered them.

Who is running the xf350s and what's you opinion? Sound, ease of maintenance, flow, pros and cons?

I have one. It has been running since they were almost new - a few years now. I have never cleaned it and it still works. It runs in a sump room, so I could not hear it unless it was super noisy, so no idea if it is quiet, or not. I hate to "program" the controller, but it does it's job. I do not like the flow that it makes - all static and linear. I like my Tunze pumps better with more dynamic flow. I do not understand why people complain that they are not long lasting or are unreliable - I have not had any of those issues. It does move a lot of water.

Thanks that goes along with my overall feeling. I want to like them but Tunze or Vortech just seem to have a better following and recommendation.

They get dirty quickly and lose a lot of flow. I downgraded them and use them in my 75 instead of the 240 now.
The 240 got 4 Vortechs.
