Just passing this on as I had not thought of it prior to this morning.
I've noticed recently the water pressure on my RO/DI declining and an abnormal usage of resin. This morning when I went to fill my 20 gallon RO/DI fresh water reservoir the pressure gauge read 10%; normally it runs 65-70 psi. I inspected the relatively new sediment and carbon filters and they were filled with sand and silt. Cleaned and rinsed the canisters, put in new filters and instantly was back up to 75 psi.
There is a large road construction project going on in the area and apparently they have been relocating/adding to the water mains. While I couldn't see the silt in the tap water, there was enough to really gum up the filters. Just an FYI in case someone's looking for a solution to a similar problem.
