Looking for constructive criticism of my tank
Specs
30 gallons
6 T5 bulbs light blue and white (corallife)
25lbs of live rock
live sand (black)
aqueous 100 w heater (in tank)
Sponge filter
Aeroforce 2 hang on the back protein skimmer
Chinese UV light submersible (in the skimmer)
Fluval 206 canister filter
one powerhead
homemade float switch auto top off (King of DIY Joey)
frag holder
Ammonia & Ph alert discs
2 Xenia's
1 galaxia
1 toxic green zoanthid
1 montipora
1 GSP
6 serith snails
12 nasorious snails

Nice. Keep an eye on no3 with the canister. If it gets high , rinse it out from time to time.

Edit , make sure you have good surface agitation for gas exchange, o2 specifically.

Planning on adding a mated pair of clowns. I have a few options
1) go with a black and orange pair that is 3 years old and were previously in a 200 gal
2) an adolescent pair of orange clowns
3) juvenile clowns not mated and let them sort it out

What do you think?

The only things I’d suggest would be to maybe add in a couple of smaller rocks for the Xenia, Galexia and GSP to grow on. I’m usually not a fan of single rock structures, I prefer islands, but I have to admit that you’ve done a good job with that.

I would go with the juvenile clowns and let them figure it out. In fact, that is what I did. Still not a mated pair but they are both still getting along almost 2 years later.

And to echo what Salty said.... try to keep the canister filter clean. In fact, you may only want to run it to clean the water and not leave it running full time unless you have media in it.

what do you mean by media? I have carbon and bio ceramic pieces, filter floss, that fine black sponge you find in gun cases, and a textures rough like sponge that I believe is the first interaction the water has in the canister. you don't mean adding cheato to the canister do you? that seems odd to me.

I'd go with the juveniles and let them sort it out. That's what I did with a juvenile pair of snowflake clowns. It was really interesting watching nature take its course. That was almost 3 years ago. I now have a mated pair that spawn regularly [emoji16]

By media I meant stuff like carbon, GFO or the bio ceramic pieces.
