Continually trimming/throwing away Chaeto

He mentions that Chaeto should continually be trimmed/thrown away to export bad nutrients that it has pulled out of the water.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? If you agree, how do I know which Chaeto to trim/throw away, how much, and how often?

I trim mine usually every two weeks. I take out 1/4 of the total chaeto volume, and that seems to be working out good so far
