Are they really needed at 1st? What do the controllers do, can I get just as good growth in my corals without? Thanks in advance

A controller is a nice-to-have, in my opinion. It gives you the ability to slow raise the intensity and color of your light consistently day after day. Without a controller, you could just run it on a timer and it would come on at the same settings everyday.
Best thing I bought for my kessils. It also has an acclimation setting for new corals and not only can you set the time and ramp intensity it also gives you I believe 6-8 empty slots for multiple time frames and intensity. I think it's a must have for the Kessil
It's well worth it.Thanks you both for your input. I'll definitely get a controller. Just will have to forget to mention the extra $100 I'm spending on the light to my wife lol
