I'm interested in getting something that will monitor my temp, ph and salinity. Nothing too completed just something to help me keep a, eye on things what are your guys suggestions on that. I also don't want to **** off my bank account, or my wife

I do appreciate it though. I just think its more advanced than I can handle. Im mainly wanting something cause I'm away a lot and it would just be so much easier to call my wife and be like " what's the salinity" u know? She doesn't know how to do anything but feed the fish lol

ill have a reefkeeper lite for sale in a week for $100 if interested

If you setup a good ATO, you dont need to worry about your salinity. It will only top off what has evaporated which will keep it consistent. The controller would be more for setting an email or text to your phone telling you that the ATO has failed or your sump level is too high etc.

^ what he said... salinity should almost never change with ATO. only way it would fluctuate is during water changes.. if you arent mixing right. also.. not i dont think there is any that offer and ALK probe

I agree with Chris. I have had a controller for about a year and a half and have yet to feel I need salinity measuring for it. my refractometer does that for me in a snap.

I have a reefkeeper elite. It works very well for me. I started off with teh Reefkeeper Lite. One disadvantage of the LIte is that you can only hook up a max of 4 modules. on my system now, I have 2 powerbars, the system Lab (PH, Temp and Orp plus 2 switches) the Net Module, advanced light controls (for LED Dimming) and the head unit. I like the RSS feeds it send out and I have them integrated into Outlook on my desktop so I can always check the stats. its pretty easy to setup.

I know alot of folks here are very happy with their APEX controllers. I cannot speak to those.

I am just toying with the idea. Main reason is if I'm out of town my wife can keep a eye on things. She doesn't know how to use my refractometer our run any tests

That's the point of the controller. Your wife wont have to keep an eye on things. The controller will do it for you. As far as temperature and ph goes you can consistently monitor that away from home very easily. But if major failure of equipment does happen, you will be the first to know, because your phone would tell you. Then you could have the wife access the situation.

For instance, if the float switch in the sump that tells you it is too full goes off and sends you an email, you can immediately turn off your return pump and other equipment straight from your phone. Then you have your wife go in and check it out.
