So I'm in a conundrum, I've been having problems with the live rock in my tank and would like to just get rid of them and make a frag tank.

What steps do I need to do to ensure I don't lose anything?

I guessed I would start by removing a little live rock weekly, then start on sand and adding a rack.

Any other tips?

What kind of livestock do you have? Removing the live rock will also reduce your bio=filter. So depending on what you have in the tank it could be a bad idea.

Only 4 fish; two clowns, tomini tang, and royal gramma. Also an anemone that I can always return.

Do you plan on keeping the fish/nem? If so, that will be a problem since they will continue to make waste and you would have removed the biofilter with the rock causing your ammonia to build up. You need to figure out how you will deal with the fish poo before you remove the rock.
