Hi R2R! I have a reefer 250 and would like to convert it to a frag tank. My question is what do you guys do for filtration other than a protein skimmer? All the frag tanks I’ve seen don’t have any rocks or very little if any in the tanks.
Thanks R2R!

You could put a few rocks in your sump if you need more room for frags in the display.

I thought about that but my sump that comes with the Red Sea tank is kind of small. It can only fit my protein skimmer and return pump.

You could look into Marine pure balls/blocks. They are easier to place in tight spaces while giving you lots of surface area for bacteria.

Thank you for this. I totally forgot about marine pure blocks.

Hi. My reefer 250 tank never turned into a frag tank. I ended up buying a lowboy tank instead. The red sea reefer is now taken over by anthelia.
