Hey guys.

I own an LedZeal Malibu S400 fixture. It's a very strong light, with 4 sets of 24 LEDs.

The only way to control my unit is via the smartphone app. The smartphones me app is getting outdated, and appears to be no longer maintained. The fixture appears to use an Arduino/Sanguino microcontroller with a wifi module.

I'd like to convert my LED fixture to a design compatible with the current controllers, as well as provide a better way to save ramp/brightness profiles, etc.

Anyone have knowledge of this and can help provide direction?

If it’s running an Arduino microcontroller you could look into reef pi controllers. They also do some with Arduino so I’m thinking you could potentially override the code in the current Arduino setup with one of the open source ones out there.

Generally, I think you have the following paths.
  • Reverse engineer the wireless protocol and replace the controller app.
  • Reprogram the controller unit itself, if it truly is an Arduino.
  • Circumvent the controller with a custom circuit or signal.
A quick search didn't turn up any details, but post some pictures of what's inside and maybe that could help.
