Hi guys! I am planning on converting my 75 gallon freshwater tank into a saltwater aquarium reef. My question is whether or not what I have is sufficient filtration to convert it into salt. I have a Fluval fx4 and a Fluval 50 Hang on Back filter. I would LOVE to have a sump but do not have is drilled for one, or room for one under the stand. Is there a way to get some type of box that acts like a sump without having the tank drilled for it? If so, where can I find one?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I operated a 45g freshwater converted tank for over 2 years w a canister filter only. Keep bio load down. Get an ammonia badge. Stay on top of water changes. You’ll be fine :)

also, you can buy hand on back skimmers but I haven’t had much luck w them moving a significant amount of water

A cpl manufactures make hob skimmer refugium combos. Or ppl might make an aio kit and and your 75g would be a big aio. How wide is it?
Esshops makes a hob overflow as well. If you done wanna drill.

The tank is about 4ft wide, 18 in deep if that makes any difference.

This is amazing! I'm gonna have to look more into this. Can you put your skimmer into this as well? Or would if just be a hang on back? Thank you!

one warning you may not be able to post this on the side if there is a lot of extra silicone I needed to mount on the back, but even with that I have been happy with it....

I have a skimmer in mine and it works well if you can find one that fits... I am currently using the Figicube skimmer as well but I will measure the compartments tomorrow and post the sizes for options.

When you mount it on the back, do you need to drill for the return? Or have it go over the top?

I run a fx4 on a 90. I keep sps, softies,nems, lps.

It actually goes inside the tank, normally at one end of it....
