Hi all,
My husband and I purchased a 20-gallon frag tank. It's 36'X10'X12". After a marine velvet massacre :( we are considering using it as a QT instead. Is the tank too small or shallow to use as a QT?? It's still cycling, so we have time to decide.
Thank you!!

A 20 gal long makes a great qt tank. Just don't over load it with a bunch of fish. I would only do 1 tang at a time if its bigger.

Agreed. For most fish, that is a good sized QT actually. For any Tangs, Angels, etc that are over 2.5" or so, a larger tank would certainly be better, but may still be fine short term.

Perfect! Thank you both. We're very "tang-shy" now, because unfortunately we think our beautiful purple and yellow tangs kicked off the infection. Tough way to learn the QT lesson, but we learned!

Did any fish survive? If so you want to get them out of the infected DT, and let it run with out fish for a couple of months to let the parasite die in the DT. Without fish in the DT, the parasite's life cycle is broken and it will die off. If you do not the parasite will eventually find a fish week enough to seriously infect, and the population of the parasite will explode, and other fish will get sick.

Yes. 2 firefish and 2 little blue-green (forgot the names). The firefish were cAught with a homemade soda bottle trap in about 1/2. Not so easy with the blues. Had to remove everything. Ugh. All are in qt now but not sure how they will fair in the cloudy water.
