I just purchased a aqua space light 2 x 250 with actinic lights. I originally have a 4 bulb t5 system 216watt. its going to be a big jump.I had a few questions.

How far from the tank should I hang the light. Its going on to a 75.

Any ideas of how to hang the light without hooking into the ceiling. its pretty heavy, plus don;t thing the parents would be happy with holes in the ceiling.

Going with such a jump in watts and from t5 to MH how should I ease my corals into the switch without killing them or bleaching everything.

Thanks any input would be helpful.

As far as easing into the new lights, use window screen material. I upped from CF to MH on my nano this way. 4-5 layers of window screen to start. Maintain a regular 8-10 hour photoperiod (or whatever you like). Remove one layer per week.

I like to keep a MH at least 6" from the water or more depending on the type of reflector used.

You could also fab up a stand for the light if you won't want to suspend it. Get as creative as you care to.

Window screen or a couple layers of eggcrate to control the light coming in, gradually remove layer by layer as time goes to allow the corals to get acclimated to the stronger lighting.
