Hi All,
So I've recently had a horrible case of velvet in my tank and some fish (i.e lesson learned buy fish from coral swaps!) I'm quarantining the one that survived and treating it. I've decided to let the display tank go fallow for 90 days in my 30 gal biocube to assure there are no further problems.
The tank was >1 year old/fully cycled and has coralline algae and all sorts of other corals (mostly LPS) and a monipora. I have a few questions:
1. Do I have to remove the invertebrates from the tank for any reason?
2. I want to convert my tank to a seahorse tank and plan to take out a lot (maybe all?) of my sand bed as it's too deep (my tank came set up that way from it's previous owner a year ago). I will still keep my live rock (which is quite a bit). If I remove (or stir up) the sand bed too much how long should I wait to introduce anything new into the tank (will probably start with one-two fish first but would like to add a pair of seahorses after that time).
3. Other than having hitching posts, removing stinging corals, having a stable supply of food and lower water flow is there anything else to consider when setting up the tank for the sea horses? TIA!
