I have a 250 gal (125gal x2) saltwater tank (60 degrees F) with a full sump that was used for octopuses for 12 years. Now, it needs to be converted to a warm-water (75 degrees F) tank for corals. Obviously light will change drastically and temp, which I plan on doing slowly. Any suggestions, tips or things I should look out for?

Just when you switch lights ramp them up slowly as to not cause an algae bloom.

Do you mean slowly increase the time they are on? Like start with an hour, then two, then three, etc?

You can either do it that way, or keep the same time schedule at a lower intensity on the lights, and increase the intensity of lights. Depends on what lights you have

Awesome. Let's see some pictures!!

Should shoot for temp around 77-78F. Also, what type of corals are you wanting to keep? Softies, LPS, SPS, Mixed reef?

The tank has been waiting around for a while so there is nothing in it but some sand. Undecided about types, currently looking up what I think will work for my skill level and tanks.

+1 you can do it by time...but i would keep the same time and slowly increase intensities.
