Converting to FW from SW

After 30+ years of SW, I am decommissioning and reverting to FW. My question is about using the old hardware and filter media. Will I be OK just rinsing it in tap water to kill off the SW bacteria or do I need to use something in the water. I will ditch all the substrate and coral rocks/barnacle clusters, no live rock to worry about.

I’m not a biologist or anything. But I’d break it down, and clean everything out with freshwater and a citric acid soak. For the tank I’d drain it wipe it out. Let it dry, and wipe it down with freshwater.
