Convict tang sick ?

I have a convict tang small guy 1.5 has been doing really well but randomly come home and he is laying on his side, has swam around a few times but goes back to same spot, ate some food .. can’t see any ich or anything what could be the problem ? He’s our fav fish so want to make sure he’s gonna be ok

anything I can do to help ? seems to be breathing a little more then normal, all my other fish are absolutely fine.

fisrt if you can add some pics and a short video that will help some of the experts on here. Second, sometimes you can’t always see what is going on with a fish. Often parasite can be in the gills and invisible to the Aquarist. Lastly more information will help. How old is the tank, how long have you
Had the fish, water parameter number, as many as you can specifically give. (Just saying parameters are fine wont help, I know you didn’t do that in the post)

I will keep a watch in this post to try to help but I hope someone with more experience will chime in.

Unfortunately when I didn’t notice he swam off to a different spot of the tank & proving hard to find him, I think I know what that means ..

will have to just wait it out I guess I hope in the morning he’s back to his usual self, only for him a week ago, I’m no expert either to be honest but just strikes me as odd how one fish can do so well eating everything .. I been fattening him up too with new life spectrum gel & nori, tummy always full.

I am sorry that this is happening to your fish. I hope someone with more knowledge will answer you. It can be hard to know sometimes what causes it but when ever I have something get sick or die I try my best to figure it out and learn from it. I am sure you are a good keeper of your animals. yeah exactly, I mean if he does pass it will suck, but I’d like to at least figure out why, if he bounces back I might mix a very small amount of prazi in with the new life spectrum gel over a Week & see how he , I noticed him swimming around with my tomini tang a few minutes ago just like normal then once he spotted me he went & laid down I hope this isn’t an Acanthurus thing like how blue tangs like to play dead when they are fine .. but that doesn’t explain the breathing .. I’m hopeful at this stage.

maybe he got a sting from the bubble tip, just gonna keep an eye & hope he does well.

Have you tried Selcon? I started using that a few months ago and my fish seem to look better when I started. They also go nuts for the food that it is soaked into.

i haven’t tried selcon yet ! I’ve thought about it a few times mate but I’d have to get it shipped from the US as we don’t have it here in Australia, how long does it keep ?

usually I’ll just use AF fish V I’ve found that quite good.

The fish don’t go nuts for the fish v lol gotta get them onto it in secret slowly adding it over time till they don’t notice otherwise they spit it.

how long does it keep ?

A little goes a loooooong way and it has a really long shelf life too. I don't know what it would cost to ship the AU but it maybe worth the cost.
