I've been thinking about possibly getting a diamond watchman gobie for my tank because I really like that they sift the sand and I think they just look cool. Are there any other gobies like this one that you would suggest?

Whoa dude........you are forgetting about the yellow clown goby! Get one. They are cheap, they are awesome, and I think that's all that need be said:D

I have a yellow watchman goby that I really like. He's pretty civil with his sand spreading and rarely gets any on corals. The pistol shrimp that he's paired up with kicks up way more sand than he does.

As far as watchmen gobies, aurora and wheeleri are cool and pretty. Dartfish are active. Elacatinus sp serve as cleaners.

I have had both the diamond goby and yellow watchman, the diamond goby constantly rearranged my sand bed weather I liked or not and covering corals, so I spent a lot of time cleaning up behind him. I currently have a yellow watchman goby, he doesn't due nearly as much sifting and destruction. I also like his personality better.

What about a goby shrimp pair

Thanks for all your guys comments! You know I haven't even thought of a goby shrimp pair. That would be really nice to get since I have been wanting a shrimp to begin with. Do they pair with any shrimp or will they only pair with certain ones?

It's usually pistol shrimps......I'm pretty sure. They burrow in the sand usually under rock and the watchman goby keeps watch just outside the burrow

I enjoy my rainsfordi he likes to spray gravel everywhere I don't like it but he is always active and has cool colors. Also really like green clown gobys. Cool fish for price.

I have to say, I really like my rainsford goby as well. He does carpet bomb my zoas with sand from time to to time but it's not too often. Very cool fish for the price.

If you have SPS or plan on keeping SPS at some point, avoid Yellow Clown Gobies at all cost. They will irritate acros and prevent PE by perching on them.

My favorite goby is the Flaming Prawn Goby. They're pretty tiny and expensive but they're one of the most incredible gobies IMO

That's a very good point. I bought one and thought I would be okay because I didn't have many sps at the time but he relentlessly attacked my Duncan coral to the point where it wouldnt open. I took him back to my lfs.

Mine had to go the moment I saw him nipping on my milles polyps. He literally thought he was king of the world in my tank, bouncing around from coral to coral. He slept on my scoly every night which prevented it from opening up. When it came time to remove him, it took nearly 3 days to finally lure him into a net.

It's funny how cheap fish are usually the ones that cause the most problems...

I'm a big fan of gobies; especially those that form a relationship with pistol shrimp.
My favorites come from the Amblyeleotris sp. gobies; Randall's and Wheeler's top that list.
Another favorite is the Yasha Goby, but they're more timid than the others so it takes some time before they acclimate to your tank's environment and become visible.

Here's some pictures of my gobies.

My Randall's Goby with a Tiger Pistol Shrimp.

My Yasha Goby (resides with a Candy Cane Pistol Shrimp).

And my newest pair and favorite, Wheeler's Goby pair.

I also have a trio of the ORA Masked Gobies that are great as they swim in the water column and are more visible.

Yasha & candy cane pistol shrimp was my favorite comb ever.

Will diamond gobys pair with a shrimp? Also will they disturb coral as much as a yellow watchman goby?
