Thought I would share this with so cal reefers. I visited a cool coral and fish shop yesterday. It's called Ellis Aquatics and it's located in the city of Compton. Gentleman running the shop was very polite and professional. He said they have been open 4 years now. Great frag tanks with huge selections of corals and nicely priced. Lot of unique fish also. I picked up berghia nudibranches from them. Shop is in kind of a rough part of town but we'll worth the drive if you are in so cal. I will be going back again soon

Thanks for shairing.

Yes that town is rough and tuff. Always be respectful to the people you see in that neighborhood. Also never judge a book by it cover. Their are a ton of great people who live their.

Might need to check it out.

Did they have a website at all? I know most smaller shops do not.

I worked in and around there for 33 years so I know that book much better then most. Yes there are fine people that live there too. Keep in mind also respect is earned not given. Common courtesy is something you should try to extend to anyone and everyone if the situation allows for it.

They have a really nice selection of coral for good prices.

Thanks

I give respect first to people and let them screw up and make them earn it back.
That's cool, I give polite common courtesy first and let them earn my respect. But I guess one could say common courtesy is a form of respect too. All in how you view it as an individual.

Wow, cool, yes I can see why. I really liked his natural sump approach to o his frag tanks. Just filled with gunk macro algae and glass covered over with algae. He indicated he just let's nature do its thing down there which is my philosophy also but the frag tanks were pristine.

I was there also yesterday also. I picked up a bit of a clean up crew and a couple Springerii Damsels. Some of the fish looked a bit rough (Dead). But I wouldn’t blame it on the shop. The heat we have be having is a high stress point for fish. There will be casualties with new fish. Didn’t stop me from picking up the damsels. I will be back again.

Lol what time were you there? I'm pretty sure I would have noticed a tangerine speedo in the shop?

Between 1:52 and 2:08 pm... LOL... forgot they were not open on Sunday and I had to make it back to catch a movie at the theater. So I was very aware of how much time I had inside. On the upside, I only spent $50, Got what I needed and not what I wanted.

Amazing reefs has some of the oldest coral colonies outside of a public aquarium lol. His tanks are so natural and nice looking. Also just a great place to hang and talk shop.

I was there at 1130am. Bought some nice large Berghia for my aptasia but going to get some corals also from them. He said reef a palooza brings a lot of out of state customers in for them in couple weeks.
