Hello,

I have a 25 gallon tank and I want to start planning out my stocking for fish and the order in which to do it.

I am mainly doing "cool" color / personality fish for my son. We do have coral so have to be reef safe.

I am going through Dr Reef as I do not have a QT tank now so I want to make sure anything I put in is QTd before hand. I am open to suggestions of other sites that do the same.

I have 2 clowns as of now, I want to add a midas blenny (or some type of cool blenny), maybe a goby, royal gramma or dotty back (too aggressive?). I am keeping up with maintenance and think maybe 5 fish in the 25? Or would that be pushing the limits. I do have live rock, live sand etc no sump though.

Thanks everyone!

We don’t have any of the fish you mentioned so can’t help there, but for my sons tank we are doing primary colored fish. Blue, yellow, red. Maybe consider a red firefish and any of the blue/yellow chrysiptera damsels.

Thank you! Any specific order? Have you had issues with damsels being aggressive?

How many fish do you think is viable for a 25 gallon? I’m thinking adding 1 fish every month or month and a half ish to make sure it adjusts and tank is ok with load

If you kept 5 small fish I dont think you would have an issue. Gobies can have awesome personalities. Ive always loved watching mine. Damsel fish can be aggressive so put them in last. (Clowns are a type of damsel so they may show some aggression if new additions encroach their territory). I think an azure damselfish, a yellow watchman goby, and a banggai cardinalfish would be some cool additions to your tank.

What blenny would you do instead ? I want something that does the perch and has a personality as well
I love my midas, but he's kind of an ******. bi colors have a lot of personality, you could try those.

I would recommend a yasha goby and candy cane pistol shrimp. I have two pairs in my both my tanks and when they come out I love watching them. I love the symbiosis relationships in reef tanks. Love watching my clowns go in and out of the anemone for the same reason.

So gramma is in for sure. Possibly a damsel. Maybe 2 more, would love a perching fish but needs to be reef safe and then a personality fish
