Cool white or Neutral white

depends on the actual temp in kelvin. cool and neutral arent colors. also the balance of how much blue you want to add later. where (kelvin) do you want to end up.

I'm just doing it for view. I don't want a crappy color in my tank

Neutral or Warm if I'm using Lumileds (Luxeon Z, Rebel). I don't care at all for the Cree warms, and would do cool white with discrete red (Osram) and lime/PC Amber (Lumileds) as the blend.

Where do you get OSRAM leds?

I buy them on cut tape from Mouser, and put them on my own puck boards. Not for everyone I know. The 660nm is also available from Lumileds

I use Cree neutral whites as the 'base' white with just a few warm whites for added visual 'warmth'. Limited cool whites can be used, but too many will tend to make the tank look 'clinical', IMO. All subjective, of course, since one man's garbage can be another man's treasure ;)

With all the blues used nowadays, just use the cool whites, you'll never be able to tell with the blues turned up anyways

My suggestion is to pull up the spectral plots of the whites you want to use, and look at the CRI rating. Use the spectral plot to see where you will have gaps to supplement, and shoot for a high CRI to better see all the colors on your fish and coral (ones which aren't due to fluorescence anyway). I'd rather run a lot more blue and violet (and cyan) and a few neutral/warm than more even mix of cool white and blue.
