Hello Everyone

I am new to the forum and to reefing, Im from Panama and we have really hot weather, Im having trouble deciding what item to use as a chilling device, im between the CoolWorks MicroChiller or the Chill Solutions CSXC-1, can any of you help me out deciding, I currently have a 20gl

Welcome to R2R :) I do not have any chiller experience to help. There are plenty of others that do though. This is the right place to be!

Thanks Dsnakes, I hope somebody can hel me out, im a click away of the purchase but not sure which one to get

How many degrees do you need to lower the tank by? If it is only a couple you might try having a fan blow across your sump (evaporation causes the temperature to decrease). If it is more than just a degree or two than I chiller is what I would recommend. I don't have any experience with those two though.

The tank is at 83F right now, I want to lower it at least down to 77F, weather down here is really crazy and the temp changes out of nowhere, at any time,

Do you have air conditioning in the house? That will also drop the temp. Paying for a chiller on such a small tank isn't a good way to go. Blowing a fan across the top of the tank, not the sump, will cool it more. Also check that your heaters aren't coming on and raising the temp.

I dont have an AC in the house, the thing with the fan is that itll evaporate the water quicker, that means refilling the tank more often, and checking parameters more often right?

Evaporation is just h2o. So the only thing you need to replace is more RO water. The other elements do not evaporate.

so if i top off with RO water the nitrates nitrite, etc etc will remain the same?

Were you topping off evaporated water with saltwater? I just get that feeling from your posts. If you didn't know, you only top off with freshwater, preferably rodi water. I just want to make sure now, and possibly nip another problem in the bud.

If you already knew that, my apologies. Like I said, I just got the feeling you were using saltwater from your posts. Just lookin out ;)
